New Stunning Route for 2027
We’re excited to unveil an enhanced section of the TWIN LAKES 20 route between Simpson and Woughton-on-the-Green. As the event continues to grow in popularity, we’ve listened to participant feedback and made changes to improve the overall runner experience.
The updated route removes the narrow canal towpath section from the two-lap course, replacing it with a wider and more flowing stretch that gives runners more room to run at their pace, overtake comfortably, and enjoy the race atmosphere. The new section still captures everything that makes the TWIN LAKES 20 special, while making the course feel more open, smoother, and even more enjoyable from start to finish.
Whether you’re chasing a PB, using the event as key marathon training, or simply soaking up the atmosphere, the refreshed 2027 course is designed to deliver an even better race-day experience for every runner.
Enter the 20-mile distance and only run 10 miles on race day and you will still get your tee and medal!
The TWIN LAKES 20 is a friendly event organised by Dirt Running with more than 10 years of running event experience, making sure you have the best day possible.

GETTING TO WILLEN LAKE
Willen Lake, V10 Brickhill Street, Milton Keynes, MK15 0DS
BY CAR: Use the postcode MK15 0DS in your Sat Nav.
If you are on the M1, exit at Junction 14 and follow the signs to Central Milton Keynes until you pick up the signs for Willen Lake.
BUS: Catch the number 8 bus from Milton Keynes centre to Woolstone Roundabout West.
Walking down from the bus stop, take the first right at the Redway junction under the main road, then take your first left into Willen Lake.
CYCLING: If you are local then take the stress out of race day and cycle to the venue.
